navigating early adulthood through the lens of mysticism
2 days
june 3 - 4, 2023
located at Riverbank in los Angeles, CA
Led by Jan Birchfield
This retreat is specially geared towards folks in their 20s and 30s. It will focus on navigating early adulthood through a spiritual lens, with an emphasis on healing work. Please scroll down for more information.
OUR TIME TOGETHER
Jan’s work is an exploration of the relationship between personal healing and mysticism. During the retreat we will explore the most fundamental questions of being human:
What is the purpose of a human birth?
What is the nature of our consciousness, and how does this shape our everyday experience?
How do we access a more spacious, peaceful and joyful inner state?
How do we connect more deeply to our own inner knowing and truth, or the Divinity that is within us?
These questions will be woven into a conversation about your every day life, and healing work is a major component of our time together. We begin where you are, and we welcome you to bring into the room all aspects of your life.
We will also chant and meditate together. The meditations are not long, and are gently guided.
There is no expectation that you share on retreat, but we do ask that you come prepared to hold space for each other. Some people learn the most from listening to others. Other people have a desire to speak about their lives. There are no rules in this way.
We are happy to speak to you if you are remain uncertain about whether or how this work is aligned for you at this time. If you have questions, please contact us at info@antarataos.com
COST
As we plan for a retreat in Los Angeles in early June, we are watching an economy that is shrinking, with layoffs in the entertainment industry. It is important to us that our work be accessible to all, and so we are moving the pay structure for this retreat to donation only. This means that you pay according to what you can afford.
To reserve a spot, please fill out the registration form and send payment via Venmo: @Janis-Birchfield.

Schedule
There is a fluid quality to the way we run retreats, so plan on arriving with a sense of flexibility. We will hold a morning circle that opens at 10:00am, followed by lunch and a short break. Our afternoon circle will begin around 2:00pm and close at 6:30pm. Please plan on arriving some time between 9:30-9:45am, so that we are settled by 10:00. Please plan on staying the whole time, so we can hold a tight container for all.
Food
Lunch and an afternoon snack will be provided each day.
Electronics
While there may be times when it is necessary to stay connected to the outside world, it is important to minimize this. Retreats, at their best, provide an opportunity to “unplug.” If you are in a position to do so, you may want to minimize your screen time or leave a message that indicates that you will be out of reach so that you can truly detach from the outside world.
integration time
After retreat, it is important to allow yourself time to absorb, integrate, and digest your experience. For this reason, we encourage you to build in some time after the retreat to simply let down.
